We hope your school year is off to a smooth start.
As we select books to feature at the Zinn Education Project’s booth at the National Council of Teachers of English conference in Philadelphia this November, we would appreciate your guidance.
Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey. Tell us which books or other works of literature you have taught using a Zinn Education Project people’s history lesson, and how you have used ZEP lessons to provide historical context in your English classroom.
For example, high school English teacher Nick DePascal describes using our lesson, Food, Farming, and Justice: A Role Play on La Vía Campesina, when teaching John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath, and our Poetry of Defiance lesson with Octavia Butler’s Kindred. We’ve also heard from teachers who use our lessons on apartheid in South Africa with Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime.
In appreciation for your time, we will send you five “Teach Banned History” buttons. (We can only ship to addresses in the United States.)
Thank you for all you do to teach outside the textbook.
