Once again, we are witnessing a vicious national attack on voting rights, democratic participation, and truthful education. History reminds us that we must organize to protect the gains won through generations of struggle.
When young people understand voting as part of a broader struggle to improve the conditions of their lives and their communities, they can begin to see themselves as agents of change rather than spectators to politics.
The Zinn Education Project is launching a campaign to support educators in equipping young people with the history, lessons, and organizing traditions of Reconstruction, the Civil Rights Movement, student activism, and the long movement to expand freedom in the United States.
Before we proceed, we are writing to a select group of educators — including you — for guidance.
