June Report: Why I Signed Up for People’s History Lessons

Every week we love hearing how people found us and why they’ve signed up to access people’s history lessons from the Zinn Education Project. Below are a few reasons people shared when they registered at our site recently.

To learn!
Obtaining well-written, historically-accurate materials.
I have been a card-carrying fangirl for many years.
Anti-education media news coverage in Florida.
Found searching for info on the Black Panthers.
I want each student to see themselves in the work we do.
I’m looking for teaching resources on environmental justice.
Hoping to find new creative ideas to implement in the classroom.
Freaked out. Never imagined this. Teachers, take back the power!!!
With the current bans and vetting of books I want to be sure I can secure reliable sources to direct others to information and education.

I’ve been following you on social media for years & wanted to start donating.

Trying to educate my children, grandchildren and a few receptive friends.
I want to support truthful education and resist efforts to suppress truth from curriculum in local schools.
As a retired teacher, I am broadening my grandchildren’s exposure to history over the summer.

Education is power. And learning should be liberatory. I want to be equipped to teach that way.

These are comments from a few of the hundreds of teachers who signed up recently for people’s history lessons from Tucson, Arizona; Encinitas, California; Hartford, Connecticut; St Petersburg, Florida; Atlanta and Athens, Georgia; Salem, Massachusetts; Greensboro, North Carolina; Clemson, South Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; Greenville, South Carolina; Lompoc, California; Yulee, Florida; Seattle, Washington, and many more cities
