As public events are confirmed, they are added to the map below. The map is hosted by one of our co-sponsors, Heal Together and Public School Strong. We are collaborating so that in addition to Teach Truth events, you can find Public School Strong actions and organizing near you.

Join the African American Policy Forum for the 3rd Annual Freedom to Learn Day of Action. The current administration’s attacks on education are just the beginning. The freedom to learn is under threat, and we can’t back down. If you don’t live near Washington, D.C., you can still show up for Black History and the Freedom to Learn on Saturday, May 3rd. Take your child(ren) or a friend to visit your city’s Black History museum or your local library’s Black History section. Take a selfie on location and post it to your favorite social media platform using #HandsOffOurHistory. More info and posters.

In Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future, Jason Stanley exposes the ways authoritarian regimes manipulate historical narratives to maintain power. Stanley demonstrates how attacks on education and historical memory support authoritarianism, undermining public understanding of past struggles for justice.

By showing how history is weaponized to advance political agendas, Stanley underscores the importance of preserving historical truth as a safeguard against authoritarian rule. Stanley doesn’t just diagnose the problem — he also offers strategies to resist these attacks, from advocating for historical literacy to supporting educators under fire. This free class is in preparation for the 5th annual Teach Truth Day of Action. Register.
