Join the Campaign to Teach People’s History

Unlike many education organizations, the Zinn Education Project (a project of Rethinking Schools and Teaching for Change) receives no corporate donations. We depend on individual donors and family foundations —   and a lot of volunteers.

In order to sustain and grow this effort to help students learn the bottom-up history of the United States, we need YOUR help to reach more individual donors. Personal requests to contribute are always the most effective, and the more people we can reach, the better.

Please join our team that is reaching out to their friends and family to contribute. You can help us reach more students with people’s history lessons by expanding our base of individual donors. See below for sample language, images, and tips for your campaign.

Tips for Your Outreach

  • Include this link in all your outreach: https://zinnedproject.org/donate/.
  • Use text and graphics in your message, including any or all of the images below.
  • If you share social media, consider tagging people so they will be alerted to the opportunity for giving.
  • All donations to the Zinn Education Project are tax deductible. The Zinn Education Project is coordinated by Teaching for Change and Rethinking Schools. Teaching for Change, Federal Tax ID #52-161648, receives the donations on behalf of the project.
  • You can create a Facebook fundraising campaign for ZEP — Teaching for Change receives the donations on behalf of the project. View instructions for setting up a ZEP Facebook fundraiser.
  • All donations for Giving Tuesday will be matched up to $10,000 thanks to the generous support of Dave Colapinto, a former student of Howard Zinn’s at Boston University who defends the rights of whistleblowers. If you decide to start your outreach this week, it will still count.
