Chief Tecumseh’s Speech to the Osages (Winter 1811-1812)

Chief Tecumseh earned a reputation for his skills in fighting white settlers and the militas in the Midwest. He and his brother worked to unify Native Americans to struggle collectively against the colonists as they expanded westward.

In the video below, Chief Tecumseh’s Speech to the Osages is read by Deepa Fernandes on March 10, 2007, at The Great Hall at Cooper Union, New York, NY. The excerpt is from Voices of a People’s History of the United States edited by Howard Zinn and Anthony Arnove.
