Tell Us Your “Teaching a People’s History” Story

peopleWhen we launched the Zinn Education Project in 2008, we heard countless stories from teachers about how A People’s History of the United States had been an “eye-opener” and in many cases influenced their decision to become a teacher. Many commented that they had not read the book until they got to college and wished it had been sooner. Now these same teachers are ensuring that a people’s history is not limited to higher education.

To demonstrate the lasting impact Howard Zinn has had on elementary and secondary school educators and students, we are collecting teachers’ stories, which are on the  Zinn Education Project website and will be linked to HowardZinn.org. These stories can provide ideas and inspiration to other school staff and parents who are looking for ways to deepen the teaching of US history in their schools.  Read stories submitted to date. Now, tell us your story.
